Here is a quick video to show you how easy it really is to create your own start page:

Everyone that uses the internet has a web page set as their default browser home page. usually this web page is a website that is not created by you, and your are, in a way, forced to select as your default home page. But most of us have several websites we frequently go to including Google search, which makes it hard to select a site as your home page. What Portalbella's service offers you, is the ability to create Your very own home page and set it as your default browser home page! You can add up to 20 links, or bookmarks, to your favorite websites, which are displayed in a menu on the left and right sides of your home page. You can also upload an image to set as your background and set your background color to give your page that personal touch. If you like widgets or RSS feeds, you can add these to your home page and they will be displayed on the right hand side. Every home page has Google search integrated and displayed at the top of your page for your convenience. Here are a couple example home pages for you to check out.

You are then able to login to your account at anytime and edit your page by add or removing links, changing your background, and editing your widgets or RSS feeds. Your new custom home page will be your portal to the World Wide Web!

Yes, Portalbella is 100% free and always will be. I created Portalbella because I knew I could benefit from the convenience of having my own home page with all the resources that I frequently access on the internet at the click of a mouse, and I thought that everyone else could benefit from this as well.

I love launching my browser now and seeing my home page and I hope you will too!

I've done my best to make Portalbella as user friendly as possibly, but am always open to ways of improving the site. I wanted anyone from the age of 5 to 105 to be able to build their own home page with ease.

After you register with Portalbella, it's three easy steps to build your home page. You can literally have your new page up and going in under 2 minutes, seriously!

There are many browser out there so I will give you a quick tutorial on the 4 most popular, Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari, and Chrome.

Internet Explorer : On the toolbar, click "Tools" and select "Internet Option". With the "General Tab" selected, you will see "Home Page". Paste your url in there.

Firefox: On the toolbar, click "Tools" and select "Options". In the "Main" options paste your url in the "Home Page" box.

Safari: On the toolbar, click "Edit" and select "Preferences". With the "General Tab" selected, you will see "Home Page". Paste your url there and then click the "Set to Current Page". A message box will appear, select "Change Home Page".

Chrome: On the toolbar, click the "Wrench" icon and select "Options". With the "Basics" tab selected, under "Home page", select "Open this page" and paste your url there.

Portalbella has been tested and works with all current web browsers.

With that said, if you are using Internet Explore 5 or 6, IE5 or IE6, these are not considered current web browsers. Some aspects of Portalbella may not render correctly in these outdated web browsers. If you are currently using IE5, IE6, or IE7, I would highly recommend upgrading to IE9. Do a quick search on Google for "Download IE9" and select the link to Microsoft's download site.

Editing your home page has been set up to be as user friendly as possible.

If you are already a registered user, then all you have to do is go to the Login Page. Once logged in, use the navigation links in the body of the page to change your "My Account", "My Links", "My Background", "My Theme" or "My Widgets" settings. After you have made your changes you can then click on "My Home Page" to view your updated changes!

Wikipedia's definition of a widget is:

"A web widget is a portable chunk of code that can be installed and executed within any separate HTML-based web page by an end user without requiring additional compilation. Widgets often take the form of on-screen tools (clocks, event countdowns, auction-tickers, stock market tickers, flight arrival information, daily weather, etc."

You can add your own widget code and there are thousands of widgets available on the internet, so really your options are endless when it comes to adding widgets to your home page.

Portalbella allows you to display widgets on your home page, but unfortunately with so many widgets being available, we can't support the use of them. If a widget is written correctly, following web standards, then you shouldn't have any issues with it on your page. In many instances when a widget doesn't display correctly, it is because a snippet of the code was lost during coping it to Portalbella. Please insure that you select ALL the code from the website you are on before pasting it into your home page.
